The strippers of VirtuaGuy HD satisfy you in ways that ordinary video watching can’t. The show is for YOU. It is a much more personal experience than watching a movie. The program fully integrates with your operating system and is always one right-click away should you need to manage your stable of naughty boys. The value is amazing; you buy to own, meaning the unique content played by this application is yours forever. And a huge thumbs up: the price of each clip costs less than a Starbucks coffee and there are no recurring monthly subscription rates! *Thumbs Down:* If your hardware/memory is pushing its limits (such as mine was while ripping a CD to my hard drive), you may find some decreased performance in your VirtuaGuy HD. It was my experience that while the stripper was continuously animated, my system would visibly suffer a reduction in resources (see Tech Stuff for my system specs). This can be minimized by reducing the frequency of your stripper’s visits (by way of a setting in the Options menu). But that’s kinda the fun: having a constant, sexy companion at the lower right side of your screen while you work or surf. Macintosh users will be bummed to know that they’ll need to run a windows emulator to use the application. *The Product:* I found it highly entertaining to have a parade of mini-studs materialize in the lower right corner of my monitor time after time. They fade in half dressed with their hands down their pants, intently fumbling and groping the contents of their underwear or wagging their semi-exposed ass while looking from behind right at me. One of them picks up a bottle seemingly sitting on top of my taskbar as if it were a countertop and proceeds to drizzle its oily contents down his chest, rubbing it sensually over his nipples and chiseled abdominal muscles. The VirtuaGuy brand has been around since 1998 and has been through 2 previous incarnations delivering a better product with each go-around. This time, just this past October 20th, the product was released in its current, third, incarnation: VirtuaGuy HD. The guys are in High Definition this time, so the resolution has tripled and lights, colors and crispness have reached new heights. It all begins by downloading the free software that will enable you to host your own harem of hunks. By allowing the application to install from the website, all it takes is four and a half minutes on a broadband connection and, ‘Voila!’ Instant VirtuaGuy HD fully installed and ready to go! Without investing anything, you’ve got access to the pre-show entertainment because with the initial download comes an assortment of studs that will tease and tempt you further into their lair with their ‘trailer’ performances. When you run VirtuaGuy HD on your desktop, based on the settings you’ve chosen, a dancer from your ‘collection’ will fade in for a time (anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two) and begin to entertain you with a number of sexy antics. With the free content, the entertainment is rated PG 13 at best, but that does not mean it isn’t arousing! Some dance, some rub and grope, others work out. Every day, VirtuaGuy will download a new ‘trailer’ based on a given calendar of free trailer downloads. These trailers stay active on your computer for 15 days, so you always have new, free, teaser content. The application has many options that allow you to customize your experience. You can adjust how frequently the dancers appear on your desktop: they can show up continuously providing a constant parade of stripper boys, one right after the other, or as infrequently as once an hour. You can adjust how large and how transparent they appear on the screen. The list of dancers is customizable in case you have a favorite you want to see more often or maybe there’s one you’re tired of seeing and you want him taken out for a time. There is a function to control the sexual explicitness of the performance by giving you the option to “allow no nudity shows”, “allow topless shows”, “allow full nudity shows”, and “allow very explicit shows”. Furthermore, you can password protect the activation of the application, activate a ‘shadow’ mode, position the stripper to the bottom left or bottom right or either at random, toggle help tips, have the stripper always be ‘on top’ (/wink), or decide whether the application starts up enabled or disabled. There is also the option to have music play during the strip teases but you will be asked to provide music files from your own collection (mp3’s or wma’s). *Pricing:* And what if you’re not satisfied with a little flirt and grope? What do you do if you want the Full Monte? Easily solved! All of the guys on the site can be purchased individually with Tickets. Each dancing guy costs either one or two tickets. Tickets can be acquired two different ways. There’s the old reliable way: you can pay for them. Tickets are sold in varying quantities on a scale of increasing value (see pricing above). You may pay via online check or credit card through either CCBill or Epoch. Epoch accepts the credit cards Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Diners Club, JCB and a number of other European cards that this reviewer does not recognize. CCBill accepts Visa, MasterCard, JCB, and Discover. You may mail in a check or money order to purchase tickets if you truly desire, but of course you must wait for that to travel and process before the tickets will appear in your account. (Contact Customer Service for details on that). The second way you can acquire tickets is by promoting the VirtuaGuy HD product to your friends. Provided at the website are numerous links that will enable you to send a pre-fabricated e-mail invitation. You’ll find the links on every model entry (“Tell your friends to get him for free!”) as well as under the ‘Free Tickets’ tabs on the My Profile and Promote pages. When your peeps download and install the application via the link provided in the invitation you send them, you will be credited 1 ticket for every 3 people that download in this way. These free tickets are no different than the ones you purchase and are meant to be spent in the same manner. *The Content:* Once your account is credited with Tickets, you can purchase a show by spending those tickets on the guys at the VirtuaGuy HD website. As of this writing, there are 52 guys in the library. The site very recently launched (on October 20th) with 36 shows so their primary focus currently is to build up the library of strippers. The goal is to have at least 365 guys so the calendar has a new guy every day for new members. Currently the honchos at VirtuaGuy HD are working with BelAmi and NextDoorMale for models. Click on the ‘Browse the Guys’ link then scan through the entire selection or use the sort filter and search based on a number of different variables. Click on each guy to see more about that dancer’s show. Once you find a show you want to purchase, click on the button on his page that indicates the dance’s cost in Tickets (it will be either one or two tickets). At that point you will be asked to confirm your selection. Once confirmed, he’s yours! More specifically, you’ve purchased the rights to download his show. If you want to see him right away you’ll need to open the VirtuaGuy HD application on your computer and head to the Download tab. Click on the link that says “Check For Updates” and the program will do the rest! If you decided not to manually initiate the download, the next time the program checked for daily updates it would have downloaded the content you chose then. Shows purchased from the website are yours to keep forever to watch over and over. Even if you delete the application from your computer, you can re-install it from a back up and continue to use it the way you always did. And even if you had failed to back up the content you’ve purchased, the Customer Service staff has records of your purchase history so everything is recoverable. Furthermore, the application allows the content to be shared between two computers you own; the idea being that you can have the strippers at home on your desktop and on your laptop for those lonely hotel nights! The guys are hot. I’d dare say that strippers are a breed apart. The way there are twinks, bears, and Latinos, strippers are a category all their own transcending their surface stereotypes. Even if you usually go for ‘a certain type of guy’ and you don’t find that type among the sexy men at VirtuaGuy HD, I encourage you to keep an open mind. It’s not how well they represent their type on the surface that defines their hotness. It’s how they MOVE; all sly, sexy, slinky, and seductive. It’s what they do with what they got and this program is GREAT because what they do with what they’ve got is quite entertaining. It’s much more satisfying than simply watching a porn clip and feeling like an outside participant. These dancers are meant to interact with the viewer; they wink, beckon, wave, wag their cocks and asses, and make direct eye contact with the viewer. It’s an experience unlike any other I’ve had while watching adult material. The preview clips may only be PG-13 but the full shows that are purchased are pure XXX! Some dancers get hard during their stints and others do not. Each guy’s entry on the website has category tags (for the filter search function) and if the dance includes the model being aroused, it’ll have the category tag “Hard On”. In the future, VirtuaGuy HD hopes to expand to include hardcore sex scenes in its library as well. Nearly all the models are from Eastern Europe with few exceptions and many of them are quite handsome. For added value, back at the website (unavailable before you made your purchase but available now,) is a greatly expanded gallery of photos of your model as well as a streaming or downloadable video or two. Of the models I chose, each one had at least a masturbation video. Most had two with the additional one being a video of the photo shoot. *Customer Support:* The Download page offers an easy-to-follow, step-by-step tutorial on how to download and install the application as well as a tutorial on how to download and install new dancers. The FAQ on the website was helpful but contained some misinformation. Here are the few things I found discussed in the FAQ that may be out of date or out of place: full monthly membership, a credit to cash program, 340+ dancers in stock, A blog function, and alternate payment methods like mail-in check, SMS, or money order. It is likely that these topics are relevant to VirtuaGirl. I contacted Customer Support (via e-mail) about this and was informed that the FAQ has been given a re-write and should be updated soon. I got my response within 24 hours. The website also hosts a community of users that interact on the websites message boards and comment system. Anyone who has registered their VirtuaGuy HD (registration is free) has an account that they can use in the community forums. Members use the forums to request technical assistance, get advice, exchange thoughts about the guys, pitch their request for their kinds of content, and share their own suggestions and feedback. *Tech Stuff:* The amount of space the program takes up is about 20Mb. Most trailers take up anywhere from 1 to 3 Mb and a full show can take up anywhere from 200 to 350 Mb. The supported operating systems are Windows NT, 2000, XP and Vista. There are no Macintosh operating systems that are supported but users will find that VirtuaGuy HD runs perfectly with Parallell’s Desktop or other similar Windows emulators for the Mac. Even though there have been 2 previous incarnations, VirtuaGuy HD is not backwards compatible with VirtuaGuy 1 and 2. The older VirtuaGuys will still operate alongside the new HD ones but the difference between the older content and VGHD in terms of graphics and model quality will be very noticeable. With 10 tickets, I downloaded a total of 5 shows for my review. I began by downloading the most popular guy (as indicated by his given user rating). His file size was 337 MB and at my download speed of around 67KB/sec, it was gonna take a while, nearly an hour. While I waited, I selected two other models. The additional selections did not initiate download immediately once the first one was done. You need to re-click the “Check for Updates” link every time or wait for the next automatic update (scheduled once daily). Naturally, running the application will take up some of your CPU’s resources. If you have the stripper running continuously, you will certainly see decreased performance in all applications including the stripper. I’m running Windows XP on a Pentium 4 CPU (2.14GHz), with 1024 MB of RAM. In my experience, while running the VirtuaGuy HD application continuously at 40% size and 30% transparency and continuing to use my computer as I normally would, I sporatically experienced the following: some web pages loaded more slowly or halted all-together until the stripper clip was done, files downloaded slower, mouse-wheel scrolling through Word documents was occasionally choppy, there were initiation delays in the start-up of other applications, and as a result of all the other processes running on my computer, the strippers performance sometimes seemed like a ‘stop-motion’ animation. Maybe my computer hardware is pretty average and perhaps the application would run best on a higher performance system. Additionally, perhaps this evidence of system resource drain would not be so obvious, or rather, would occur less frequently if I had the stripper running only occasionally (as opposed to running continuously).
